Iris Hassid lives and works in Tel Aviv. She started her photography career as a freelance photographer shooting for various Israeli publication magazines as well as private commercial companies.

Hassid has a B.A. in Political Science from Tel Aviv University and studied at the Camera Obscura School of Art. She also holds an M.F.A from the University of Haifa.

Iris grew up travelling and living in different parts of the world as a member of a family in the diplomatic service, an experience that has a great impact on her work today.

Her long-term projects predominantly focus on the identity and culture of young women and adolescents from different backgrounds. Relationships and collaborations with the subjects of her photographs form the basis of her way of working.

Her work has been exhibited widely in Israel and many other countries.

She is also a cofounder of the collective Binyamin Gallery in Tel Aviv.
